Biography
Dr. Margetis is uniquely a qualified neurosurgeon with dual postgraduate fellowships in Complex Spine Surgery from The Cleveland Clinic, Ohio, under Dr. Edward Benzel, and in Pediatric Neurosurgery from Weill Cornell Medical College, New York, under Dr. Mark Souweidane. Dr. Margetis obtained his MD at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki Medical School, Greece, his PhD from the University of Athens, Greece, for research related to the effects of Intrathecal Baclofen Therapy on the Central Nervous System, and completed his Neurosurgery residency at the University of Athens, Greece. He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of England, England, and holds a Masters Certificate in Health Care Leadership from Cornell University, New York. Dr. Margetis has published in a variety of scholarly journals including the Journal of Neurosurgery, World Neurosurgery, Neuromodulation, and the Journal of Clinical Psychopharmacology. Dr. Margetis is also fluent in Greek.
Dr. Margetis practices general neurosurgery and complex spine surgery at Elmhurst Hospital Center in Queens, New York, and at Mount Sinai Doctors Faculty Practice in Manhattan, New York.
